What Lizzie Grubman Can’t Live Without

I’ve been using this since Kiehl’s introduced it to the market. I don’t know what the secret is, but it makes my skin so soft. I love the smell because it’s not too much — I only buy it in the coriander. And you know how when you go get a manicure, and they glop on those creams afterward? I’m very sensitive to weird smells. This I love, though. It’s not too greasy. I just put it on all over my body after a shower — not my face, but everywhere else. On my face, I just use Dove soap.

I’m not all about gluten with these. I’m actually all about the dairy-free part of it. So I’m allergic to dairy and am a muncher. All day long, I’ll sit and snack. These are the absolute best, though, because I’ve eaten other pretzels that have made me feel sick and uncomfortable, but these never do. I buy them constantly. If anyone is allergic to dairy and gluten, these are the pretzels to buy.

I literally only wear black nail polish on my fingers and toes — it’s a phase I’ve been going through for the past year and a half, or two years. If you knew me, I used to wear light-pink nail polish, so this is a big change. In the winter, I wear a lot of black, and of course it matches that, but even when I wear white or blue or pink, it works (black goes with everything). I like OPI the best, but Color Club and Chanel are great, too — anything that’s a true black is what I like.

I’m very old-school — we’ve been in business for 20 years — and in the days before social media and phones, I started my company by taking all my notes in this notebook. Honestly, we should’ve bought stock in it because every employee here uses one to take notes during meetings. We just did inventory and had maybe 60 of these on hand. Nothing bothers me more than when someone pretends they’re taking notes on an iPhone. It’s disrespectful! It looks like you’re texting, even if you’re not.

These sweatshirts are so comfortable for every day. If I’m in a corporate meeting, obviously I don’t dress in a sweatshirt, but on a Friday. I love sweatshirts. I don’t know why they’re called “sweaters.” I was having this conversation with my assistant and was like, “How is this a sweater when it’s a sweatshirt?” The fit is great, too. I wear double-zero usually, and it fits well in an extra small because it’s not super tight, but not too loose. It’s not formfitting, you know?

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved gummy candies. When I was young, my mother, who’s since passed, never let me drink soda, but there were these penny candy stores with this candy, which became my only way of having soda. Now, I can’t touch actual soda (I went through a Diet Coke phase, but I can’t do that to myself anymore). But these cola gummies are phenomenal. They have to be Haribo, too — no other brand’s cola gummies are as good.

I love stretch leggings because I’m short, and I feel like they lengthen me. Don’t get me wrong — I love my jeans, but leggings are so comfortable and allow you to go anywhere; I dress them up or down. I’ve gone to dinner parties or to my kids’ school to pick them up. I think people underestimate the power of these leggings, too, because they don’t look like you’re going to the gym necessarily. They’re perfect for any kind of situation, and subdued enough to work anywhere.
