From the mouths of makeup artists to your ears, the No. 1 MVP product for this season’s runway shows is M.A.C’s upcoming range of tinted strobing cream. This highlighter fluid has been consistently used in looks for fashion month from New York to Paris. Right now, the cult makeup favorite (there are 444 reviews on MakeupAlley) comes in a sheer colorless formula, but come winter 2016, it will be available in red, silver, peach, and gold.

It started at Altuzarra in New York when makeup artist Tom Pecheux used the golden tone to create a highlighting dimension to the cheekbones of models who wear a matte, Georgia O’Keeffe–painting eye. At Hervé Léger, makeup artist Val Garland was such a fan that she used a combination of all the colors above the cheekbones.

Benjamin Puckey also used the peach cream at Costume National in Milan, blending it with Mixing Medium Shine along the bridge of the nose and cheekbones for a creamier highlight. In London, Lucia Pieroni used the peach at Jonathan Saunders. She also used it in Milan at MSGM and Missoni, capping it off in Paris at McQueen and Emanuel Ungaro. “It’s just beautiful, isn’t it?” Pieroni said at McQueen. “I’m obsessed with it.”

Makeup artists appreciate the fact that the cream is sheer so that you can see skin through it, and they like that it isn’t so shiny as to create an actual Instagram strobing effect. Val Garland, who used it yesterday at Roland Mouret, credits it with giving pretty, gym-flushed skin without making the models look like they literally just walked out of SoulCycle. Look for it next winter, and if you aren’t sure how to use it, don’t forget this handy tutorial.
